Yeah, the bar wont bind up, but the cables might. I personally have mixed feelings about the cable linkage; namely because if the carburetors come with their own linkage, thats the only way they've been tested by the manufacturer for synching etc. So there's just a variable there that the manfs. havent accounted for, more fiddling, and for me, more questions about which things are working ok. and which arent. But all in all, if installed properly, I dont think there's any significant problem doing it that way. BUT, bear in mind, to accomodate the cable linkage, my carbs were installed opposed, facing in opposite directions. I've always wondered how this affects the way they work when the car isnt level, because the float bowls are sitting at slightly different elevations.
