Yup, pumps can be expensive. Make sure, though that you've got perfect hose all the way around, a small crack can bleed pressure really fast. A fuel pressure gauge also helps for checking things out. You might also have a pump check valve tip hardened up and it isn't holding pressure after shutting off. That really doesn't hurt as long as it doesn't break off, just harder starting. Bentley says how long pressure is supposed to stay up in the ring. A couple of key twists after sitting a long time usually brings the fuel pressure up to the point where it'll fire off right away with mine.
