[T3] more car questions! (this time, it's for md)

howdy. I'd like to say hello to everyone who replied to my first email.
Wow. Sounds like there are a lot of cool people on this list :>

My next question (and gosh I'll be asking an awful lot over the next few
months) acutally deals with purchasing (and registering) an older car in
the state of Maryland. See, I know that there are terribly strict rules
about this stuff, and I'd rather start educating myself now before I find
the squareback of my dreams and discover that it's going to be a big mess
to even get a plate for it. How do titles work on cars this old? How do
I go about getting "vintage" tags? Are you limited to the amount of miles
you drive per year to qualify for this? And etc and etc.

I'm sort of wary about buying anything that does not have a current
registration (or recent registration). I don't know enough about car
mechanicals of any kind at this point, and I know getting a car up to
speed always requires some additional cash flow. I just don't want to lay
out an exhorbinant cash flow (not like I have this, anyway)

buying a car is sure going to be a fascinating experience,
I'll tell yah. And while I know I can get most of this information from
the local DMV, it really helps to get first-hand accounts of what it's
like to deal with govt bureacracies in cases like this.

and I think I'm most interested in squarebacks, simply because they're
great for hauling stuff (and people) around in. The other type 3's are
equally as coolù
1ck, a big ol' mod station wagon seems to be
perfect for me.

only about 50000 more questions and several (frustrating) months of
looking, and perhaps I'll have one. I'd like to start looking for one
early this summer, cause I should get my license (10 years too late!) by
then.
