If you put a quick curing, hard (2-pack) top-coat on a soft, still hardening/shrinking primer, you will get problems as the primer contracts with solvent loss. Use a recommended system, preferably onto a stripped surface, or with an appropriate sealer coat on old paint. The best advice is to read the manufacturer's literature; it's usually right. After all, you want the job to last well. Dave.
