STOP!  Don't put the clock back in.  Use the hole to get at the back
of the speedo.  It's still tight, but it's possible.  Undo the
speedo cable, then ease the speedo forward as you tweak the spring
prongs on each side (probably only manage one at a time, just enough
to start movement out of there).

Well done on fixing the clock.  Those transistorised ones often have
a stiff pendulum.  Some WD40 and some rapid twisting to and fro to
make it move are often all it needs to go and keep going.  Mine has
gone for 5 years now, though on 2 occasions when the battery has
been out for a time, it's needed a twist.
If the superfine green and red wires (electromagnet and back emf
coils) are damaged, or disconnected, it's easier to get another
clock (unless you are able to perform micro-surgery on electronic
devices).
