I don't think the original post was from Mike, because I now know that he has carbs. I was assuming (?) that the poster had FI and it is a fact that a worn out VR will regulate at lower and lower voltages and that this will make the FI run richer and richer until the car is virtually undrivable. Of course it could have been something else, but this problem is SO common, and so seldom recognized, that it sells a lot of carb conversions.
