Come on, Al, who do you think got the RHD models I sent you brochure pictures of? (You did get them OK, didn't you?). UK, Australia, Ireland, Malta, Nigeria, South Africa, and many countries without their own car producers imported the VW 1500. Take a look at my web-site and look at Brian Johnston's 1962 RHD Gulf blue Notch. I couldn't comment on the authenticity of this '61, but Australia is mostly a pretty dry country, so its survival is not that surprising. I believe Canada was the source of most of the early 'grey' imports of Type 3s to the USA, but I expect there are VERY few '61s left anywhere in the world now. The German Type 3 Club (Typ3 Liebhaber e.V.) had a story of no. 54 being found (on Greg's Type 3 pages in English, I think). Dave.
