Type 1 heater boxes exit much closer together than type 3s. You could probably switch, but you would need to change some of the lower sheetmetal and a 1600 bus muffler, then rig your own air ducts somehow. It is probably possible. Of course they say anything is possible except skiing through a revolving door!
