>From Jim: > How do you do this? Isn't the steering wheel attached to the door, > which only opens a little less than 90 deg, so that would leave it > sticking almost straight forward. Or did this one have a front > WINDOW that opened? I don't know if that was an option. Jim...I have sworn to NEVER discuss Isetta material again as long as I live. If, however, I were to answer the question (hypothetically, of course), it would be something like this. As I recall, the steering wheel was hinged or in some way it swiveled so that one could drive with the door open and still steer. And yes, the door probably stood straight out in front..but the little vehicle couldn't go fast enough for that to matter. And no, the front window didn't open. That is from memory of an event that occurred 40 years ago, so I wouldn't put much credence in the accuracy of my description. I just remember a fun weekend of running around D.C. with that silly door open somehow. Sorry to be a little vague on details, but at my age memory is the second thing to go. Dave could give you a better answer , except that he too has taken the oath NEVER to discuss Isettas again on this list. And, would we lie to you?
