The (original?) Bosch regs came with a diode (in a copper can) in
place underneath.  I guess the cheaper ones don't bother, or are we
talking about newer Bosch ones too, Jim?

BTW, I saw a BMW Isetta in town just yesterday, and there's an
annual micro-car rally in Bath (UK), which is impressive.
