Right now, there isnt ANY air going to my > heat exchangers, the pipes are capped on the engine before where the duct > would go to the exchangers. Please clarify. The heater control wires go to air valves at the EXIT (front) of the heat exchangers. When properly hooked up, COLD air is pushed in the rear entrance of the heat exchanger. This air is then valved into the car's interior, or dumped outside. Thus the heat exchangers normally have cooling ALL the time. If you do what you have done, then the heat exchangers just sit there and bake and get really hot, so if you stop moving that heat will just rise and warm the head, which is almost never a good thing. I should add that I got an email from one of our readers who has been running his car for 4 years in a hot climate and the heat exchangers have not suffered as far as he can tell. Still, I think this is probably a bad idea, so I don't recommend that you do it.
