Hi Thanks for the response on my other question. Now I need some advice after talking to a local VW shop. They said I need a new flywheel and possibly a new clutch, and could possibly have some internal transmission problems. (I didn't tell them that they were the ones who put the transmission in for the previous owner, so I'm kind of cautious about taking their word as gospel) When I first put the new engine in my Squareback and took it for a test drive I got severe shuddering whenever I took off from a stop, thinking I had a bad clutch I replaced clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and had the flywheel resurfaced (the previous owner had replaced the clutch not long before the engine died on him so I didn't replace it at the time) After replacing all the mentioned parts I still had the same problem. When I let the clutch out sometimes it shudders so bad that it will knock itself out of gear, it will do the same thing if I hit some particularly rough railroad tracks going too fast. Also the shifter will shake a lot when going over rough roads, there also seems to be a lot of play when going from coasting in gear and then accelerating. The transmission doesn't thump against the underside of the car though. The mount isn't broken but it does seem to be sagging a little bit. There is some gear oil on it so I assumed it was getting soft from the oil. These facts led me to believe that the mount, though not completely broken, was going bad. Also the bend in the flexible section of the clutch tube is on the low side but within specs and the clutch cable is new. So I'm looking for an opinion from the best resource that I know of, the collective experiences of the Type 3 List!
