Ok, guys, enough about the radio mount. Mine (1971) looks rather real, is black, says Volksagen on it, and has silver paint as trim. The pattern matches the dash. To remove it, you must remove the radio first (a Sapphire XV) to get to the two sheet metal screw holding it to the underside of the dash (below the vents). Most that I've seen were torn out in frustration. There is also a mount in the back to keep it from flopping around. It is an L-shaped piece of sheet metal that bolts on to the gounding terminal. The other end fits into a notch in the fresh air box. This is a very stable set up, but does not allow simple installation of an aftermarket "more modern" radio with such luxuries as FM. So, I hope this explains it. I got mine from a junkyard for $4. And it works, too. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
