I'm sure Jim is right. The UK fitting kits generally had an angle strip that fixed under the dash edge with holes for the radio control shafts to be fixed to, a trapezoidal front panel and a knobbly black vinyl on foam cover that was trapped by the front panel. This is what Blaupunkt supplied here; they may well have done the same for their radios in the States, but other suppliers would have had their own versions I imagine. Dave. The ones I am familiar with are all produced for VWoA as dealer installed accessories. They do not appear on the VW microfilm or printed parts lists. They are likely not to be the same in different markets.
