Hi Folks- After having gone back through my 8MB archive of TIII posts to find out what to do about beading on my upcoming paint job, I still have a few questions. I want my car to look the way it did when this photo was snapped (http://vwtype3.org/scrapbook/goob/) which was BEFORE my accident and clip-hell (http://www.dnai.com/~goob/clip/clip.html). So I am getting a paint job in the next month or so. Now, WCM only has the black beading in stock for TIIIs, (and I couldn't find another source) and I know there's the option of using the white TI beading (which is rounder and I have to cut out). Since the car is going to be the same (stock) color white, I am worried about the possibility of chipping on the black beading, which would look lame. Here's the questions: 1) If I go with the white TI beading, I still have the painter spray over it right? I mean, I guess I could take out all the old beading and let them paint the car without any beading in place, but then the color of the TI beading would would be off (the stock color is more of an antique yellow-white) when I fitted it after the paint job. Also, I would be worried about the loose fenders moving around and touching the body while they were spraying. So, wouldn't it be best to put the new TI beading on before the paint job if properly cleaned? It will be a urethane paint, which Jim and others commented sticks pretty well. 2) How ugly (if at all) do you folks think it would look to have the (unpainted) TIII black beading on a white car? ;) 3) Does anyone think the black beading, if cleaned and installed properly before the paint job, would work better than the TI white stuff I would have to cut out and fit myself? How about someone just TELL ME WHAT TO DO so I can get my car sprayed and quit flogging this dead horse? :) This is the last thing hanging me up, but I can't figure it out. Thanks!
