RE: [T3] ignition weirdness

In my 1953 Mercury you couldn't take the ignition out of the switch once it
was turned, my dad's 1946 Ford, you can't take the ignition out of the
switch once it's turned. I can't say for sure, but post war, I can't think
of any reason why any car company would intentionally let that happen
(somebody said it's dangerous, and it is!). As I said, I can't say for
sure, as VW did things very differently; oil-bath air cleaner on many models
through 1973 (GM had switched by 1959), 6-volt electrical system until like
1967 (The big three were all 12 by 1956).

I don't remember what year the car in question is, but my 73 Bug had the
same deal, I went to BAP and bought a new switch for $20 or so. Just my
opinion.
