Jim I think the sticking fuel pump is the likely explanation. Went out this evening and turned the key. Low and behold a familiar whir and then it sprung to life. I did beat on the case of the pump with a screwdriver the first day more out of frustration than an intent to release the shaft. I did replace the 8 amp fuse on the circuit and file the corrosion from the contacts as well. Can't believe the range of prices quoted from parts shops (149 to 260!) for fuel pumps. Thanks again for the help. Kevin 68 fastback ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much? Digest! mailto:type3-d-request@vwtype3.org Subj=subscribe
