I just was looking at that issue... it is the july 1987 hot VWs..... the conversion involves cutting the top portion and adding padding to the top. itt kind of looks like the tops would be flimsy... if anyone waants the pictures scanned just email me........ tthe conversion would probably be better with the side frames braced together at the tops.....
