Here in NC we have yearly safety inspections, and in most counties emissions
inspections on vehicles from 1974 and up. On vehicles made before 1974 they
still check to make sure that all applicable emissions equipment is still
intact. You can tint your back windows (all behind the front doors) as dark as
you want, but the front doors have to pass the state rules for light
transmission, and the windshield can only have tinting on the top 6 inches. As
in most cases it's all in who you know.
