Hello all, I think I asked everyone this question before, but only now am I truly ready to have the fastback painted. Anyway, I have a 73 fastback that I've been working on for the past few weeks...the body is fully prepped and ready for a new coat of paint. Basically I'm looking for a place/someone to do the following: - some sort of chemical wash to remove any oil residue (i.e. from greasy hands, etc.) - sanding to allow the new paint to adhere to whats there now (though I've already done all dent/scratch work, etc.) - application of a primer/sealer - application of 2-3 coats of paint - maybe a clear coat Does anyone have any recommendations for auto painting places in the Northern VA area? I'm not completely against going to a Maaco, but the people I talk to there are completely clueless...I mean, they keep quoting me like ranges like $100 to $900 for a pretty basic job, and that I have to bring it in...I know I have to bring it in, but I wont even bother if they don't give me something more specific. I had a superbeetle painted at a Maaco like 4 years ago for $250 (Maaco's Presidential paint job) so I know that prices haven't gone from $250 to $900 in 4 years. I called Craftsman and they said they don't do complete cars. Anyway, anyone know an auto painter? I'm not against having an individual do it either, provided I don't have to do all the leg work like buying the paint, etc. Many thanks in advance! -Doug douglas_brashear@mail.amsinc.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
