I never use that stuff at the drain area. It balls up too easily, coming loose and possibly clogging the oil passages. No RTV of any kind. What I use is Aviation Form-a-gasket. AKA "snot" Similar to the Shellac type glue that grandpa used. It sticks even to less than oil free surfaces. I can smell it on my fingers just typing about it.
