SV: [T3] Oil filter instead of screen?

Thanks for the tip, Bryan!

This is quite interesting... I looked in Bill & Steves pages, but there was
no pic«s, just part no and description.
I quote:
"000-091-521 VW Factory Accessory To Install a Bypass type spin on oil
filter on a Type III
(Rabbit oil filter will work as replacement), $50.00"

Has anyone seen, or tried out these parts? Where might a picture and closer
description be found?

Was thinking about my earlier question... there seems to be two different
solutions on the market, for the filter-in-sump technique. Either a little
housing with a paper (or wash-and-reuse) filter inside, that replaces the
original oil screen and cover, or a complete extra oil sump attached to the
oil screen hole under the engine, with a filter arrangement inside it, as
described above. This has the benefit of keeping a larger volume of oil in
the crankhouse, which can be needed when using a high volume pump. But what
might happen when the filter starts getting clogged with dirt? Will I loose
oil flow to the pump? Is there some kind of security by-pass valve? Will I
get satisfactory oil flow at all when using a high volume pump? As I
understand it, he oil has to be sucked through the filter instead of pushed
trough, as in the external filter assembly.

Godders! This is getting complicated...
Can anyone help me with my thoughts?
