The original surface is polished anodised aluminium (aluminum!) and
you can't restore the factory finish.  It's the same system as the
window and side mouldings.
Regular polishing with metal polish is one way to keep it shiny
(Duraglit, polish impregnated wadding, is said to be good for this),
but by then the hard anodising is worn away and the exposed
aluminium will tarnish quite quickly unless lacquered.

No problem with the rocker strip as that's stainless steel and can
be buffed up.
