Why would you instictively want to modify possibly one of the first and
oldest surviving Fastbacks????????

The value of a perfectly running, never hit, first issue, pre-year model,
original equipment car is PHENOMINAL compared to the same car with ANY
modification.

Take my advice, find an appraiser (hopefully one that knows VW). Ask him
the difference in value between ANY car that it is a first model, original,
unmodified, pre-released, and undamaged versus the same car modified. Then
see how much he will charge you to appraise it and his estimate of what it
would be worth "freshened uyp" (repaint and whatever).

I think you will find $3000 is a fair price and one that you could even
make some money on.

MY $2.

Big Al

(I always have an opinion.)

BTW, it's a 66 built in 65.

PS: I think I'm gonna drop a chevy 350 into my '61 original notch... ;)
