I know this the type 3 list but we all love to hear about finds
right? Well I saw a small advert on friday last week about a 23 window
bus for sale that had just been found in South Australia (for
perspective on this- there was only 2 known 23 window buss's in South
Australia until this one...), so with my friend Andrew who already has 2
21 window buss's, we went and had a look at this 23 window on saturday.
Low and behold it was very good body wise, no rust except the bottom of
the front windows and no rust in the roof which is a little uncommon on
any bus of that year now so we said we would have it and the guy asked
if $800 (US$500) was okay. We decided that it was fair (we couldnt
believe it actually) and said we would be back tuesday with cash and a
trailer. It has all the exterior trim but no interior whatso ever and no
engine but for that price who is complaining. Andrew and I went halves
and deliverred it to a friends house tonight about 50miles out of where
we live where it will remain until we find the necessary parts to get it
on the road. What a find!
And that is not all. On the same saturday we looked at the 23 window, we
found a 1964ish dual cab ute for $100 in a farmers back lot, so off we
went and picked it up and sold it that night for a little bit of a
profit.
They are out there my friends. Sorry for no type 3 content but I thought
you would like to read about that. The plan is to get the 23 window
mechanically sound and just use it for swapmeets and collecting parts
for our various VW's. Already had an offer of $3500 and we only bought
it tonight!
