Side wind and tires(?)

We recently bought a '72 VW Bus and it had 3 old radials and 1 old bias ply.  
Needless to say, it was a handful in the wind.  Last week we bought 195/14 D 
load rated Light Truck tires and the Bus handles the wind much better.

On our '71 Squareback we have 165/80x15 P rated tires but haven't noticed any 
real problem with wind, although we're probably just used to it.  I would guess 
that Light Truck C rated tires, if they even come in that size would cut down on 
the wind effect.  Unfortunately (or fortunately), at the rate the 165/80x15s are 
wearing, it will be many years before we have to buy new ones to test this 
theory.
