I was using 10W-30 synthetic, which is the weird thing...why would it
happen with synthetic and not with genuine dino oil? Maybe my engine is
just getting old...

Subject: RE: Oil Pressure and Synthetic
Oil pressure is measured in the engine between the oil pump and oil cooler.
Only the oil itself is measured. The connection at the dipstick or other
region
where there is an air interface is just to keep things from getting in and
it
would not affect the oil pressure (otherwise it would be air pressure :)
What is the viscosity range of the SynTech (it's been awhile since I've
used
it)?
