Actually I think that would be classified as an AoF  (Act of Frustration).

Did the light stay off?  and once home and it cooled down, did you try and restart it to check for light?

One last question...  are you sure that the sender is giving you proper readings???? You might want to exchange it with a new sender.  They're cheap and easy to replace.

My theory (at this point) is that the contact is loose in the sender and since it is a presure sensative switch, you "bumped" it into place.
