RE: T3s and Porsches: the Notchback prototype WAS a Porsche!


I have a book by Brian Long, forgot the title, but yes, Porsche was
commissioned
to help with the design process.  They are the ones who designed the Type I
transaxle and did the first designs with what we are familiar with, the
engine
under the cargo area like the Squareback examples (I think it was the Type
55,
anyone remember the image I had posted to my Type Three Tech page?).

I can be considered that Porsche was commissioned by VW quite a bit in
helping
out.  However, that doesn't necessarily make it a Porsche!
