The oil could be seepage past your valve guides, due to worn seals. A very small amount of oil would leak, here, but when the engine is not running for a time, the oil would collect in the cylinder, and burn on the first few revolutions.... > My second question is.... Ahh....The wonderful world of old cars...dont forget that your 71 is 27 years old! It's bound to have trouble here and there.. And most mechanics are NOT familar with type 3's.
