Can you still find stroker pistons & cylinders in the 85.5 or 87 bore size? Reading through some old, circa 1995, Hot VW's magazines got me thinking tonight about a nice daily driver engine. Several builders back then were selling the size longblocks I will talk about below. Increase the stroke but leave the cylidners alone or enlarge slightly to 87's. The ideal engine for me would be a 74x85.5 (1699cc) or 74x87 (1760cc). With a decent cam, this should push a split screen bus with a 3.88 ring and pinion, stock redux, fairly well yet stay relatively cool. However, I am no expert. Anyone care to discuss? :-) - John
