My '69 SB had it's major window seals replaced, w/ "cal look" by a previous owner, I believe it was 3 years or so ago. The car was then bought to Northern CA, on the coast, not too far from the oregon boarder. (read: dailly rain, salt spray). I bought the car here and continue to live here. All seals now leak alot, and have caused what looks like the first rust this car has ever experienced (w/ the exception of the battery tray of course). major blistering arount the rear quarter windows turned into holes with inspection by screw driver. The windshield is the source of an 1/2 inch to inch puddle ever time it rains. (thank you el nino) From feeling around under the dash, the frame appears to has started to rust. Question: Whats the best way to fix this rust, within reasonable cost. Question 2: Which seals should i replace the wore one with, OEM is out because the previous owner ditched the trim, BUG-Pack or WCM? Q3: Would sealing the glass/rubber and rubber/metal joints with non-hardening permetex or even grease help prolong the water proofness? or would it encourage rust and rubber hardening? thanx for the input ned sq '69 Word to the wise: when installing a motor, be gentle with the crank case ventelation return tube. If it gets loose, it leaks alot of oil on your newly refrebished engine, and parking space ;-)
