Just a note about after-market seals. They are generally made a little
longer
than stock *just in case*. It's easy to trim away small pieces to get a
snug
fit. I had to do the same when I worked on my 914. Joining the end pieces
is
very easy using some RTV (silicone sealer), epoxy or contact cement -- it
all
depends where the seal is being placed on the strength needed.
Also, nothing will fit like a stock piece, darn it! But, if someone
actually
took the time to get the proper material and mold and make an exact replica
it
would be quite a bit more expensive.
Now, if the seal is one continuos loop and you must cut a chunk out to get
it to
fit, well, that IS wrong.
I'm not trying to defend WCM (haven't bought seals from them, and probably
won't
now...) but just shedding some realistic light on the scene.
