Hunter, It all depends on what the brake linings on the shoes look like. If you had a set of new shoes to look at to compare to the ones on your car, that would give you some idea if they needed changing. But if in doubt, change them, they're not expensive.If you change one side, do both. You want to make sure the same type of linings on both sides. Also get some brake cleaner & clean everything really good. Remember to lightly grease the adjusting stars & make sure not to get any on the shoes. The first time I did my brakes, it was a little intimidating but it really if very a straight-forward process. It always helps to have a repair manual to lead you through. Good lock.
