Use a long bolt w/ the same thread as the adjusting stars, and insert that long bolt into the star. It'll bottom out; keep turning w/ a socket wrench and watch that adjusting star slide out "like butta." You can then clean & lube (with brake grease) the adjusting stars and reinstall. I find that steel pliers can really beat up the teeth of the soft adjusting stars, so I like this method much better. >Pulling the hub is the hard part, and it's laid out well in the Muir Hunter's '69 has composite drums. Leave the hub on. Use a 6mm hex wrench to remove the drum from the hub, and do all of your work with the hub still firmly bolted to the stub axle. :) I'll second Steven's suggestion to make sure to use the rubber plugs. In my experience, having the plugs in the backing plate *will* help to prevent adjuster sticking! -Greg '69 & '71 Squarebacks '63 Beetle
