I'm pretty sure Mr. Erkson is correct on all of the info he gave concerning the FI systems, especially the 914 stuff. I had toyed with the idea of using a 914 ECU on my square due to the 914 ECU having adjustments for the idle air mixture built in. I e-mailed Kjell (I think that's his name), the fellow who wrote the d-jet schpiel on the original type III owners manual, to ask him if it would be possible, or practical. He said it could probably be done providing that both the ECU and the manifold pressure sensor were used (and the pressure sensor re-calibrated for the 1600cc engine), but his main question in return was ... WHY? After pondering that return question for a while, I tend to agree. I can understand that you have the parts on hand, and want to have "ready spares" for testing, but without making the necessary changes, the interchanging of parts may hinder more than help your troubleshooting efforts.
