Does the generator light in the fuel gauge come on when you turn the key
to the first position & then go out once the engine is running? If it
remains on while the engine is running the generator is bad. Anything as
simple as brushes to replacing or reparing the generator.

Generator light on the dash doesn't come on ever.  Is this good or bad or just
a blown bulb.  The light that lights up the dash doesn't come on either, but
all the other lights on the dash, including fuel gauge and clock lights work,
if that's relevant.
