The stamped numbers are probably not dates.

The OE setup is fine with unleaded gas.  Avoid suppliers that offer 
to upgrade you (for a price) to an unleaded configuration.  The 
important points of the OE setup is that the valve guides be bronze 
(not cast iron) and that the intake valves ( I think it's the 
intakes) be the more expensive ones with the chrome plated stems.

The older non plated valves are still available, but they should not 
be!  Beware of this false economy!
