Rust removal (was Deathrust)

Hi All-

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what tool (or combination of tools)
works best to remove rust from body parts. 

I have a few spots on the roof that I'm trying to fix and I'm encountering
some very tough rust buildup that I'm having a hard time excising with my
current tool (2400rpm drill with brass wheel). I *can* get through the rust
and down to bare metal, but it takes HEAVY downpresure and is teidously
slow going.  I considered using a grinding wheel, but didn't know what size
to get or type. I don't want to mess up and burn a hole through the roof,
but there has to be a better way than the brass wheel.  Any suggestions?
