Need a new windshield for my '71 S qBk (the crack is beginning to look like the Mississippi River on a cheap school outline map!). So, I called two joints for estimates. Safelite quoted me $120 installed (without new seal). Nationwide Auto Glass quoted me $57 installed (also sans seal). Now, I am, by profession of faith, a tightwad cheapskate miserly skinflint (those are my GOOD qualities). However, I know that sometimes one does not save money by saving money (if that makes any sense). Does anyone have any solid reason (from personal experience or from ODing on The X Files) why I should be nervous about the $57 offer from Nationwide? Nationwide guaranteed me that the vehicle will pass safety inspection with the new windshield (but neglected to mention whether or not it will turn to pulverized powder the day after). Also, should I be nervous about....well, lemme tell you. When I asked for the price of a windshield for a VW T3, there was a long pause, then the person asked: "Is that two-door or four-door?" What is this, a Click and Clack parody? Any guidance for me? Thanks... Phil dillard@suu.edu
