Glad to hear that you have it up and running! All your questions below, and many more that will come up, are all answered in the shop manuals. They Type III engine isn't really different from the Type I and replacing the T3 engine for a T1 just because of a simple pulley is, well, weak. I highly recommend you get the Idiot's Guide by John Muir. It can be found at any good air-cooled VW store and through the on-line book stores (Amazon.com is a good starter). Your next manual should be a Haynes and/or a Bentley. The manuals cost less than $40 each (and that's new, you can buy 'em used for less!) so there's no excuse not to get one.
