	3) fuild gushes out, assistant's foot goes to floor;
	3) you close valve;
	4) assistant relaxes foot;
	5) repeat...!

It sounds, from your description, that you had your wife push the pedal up
and down while you held the valve open.  Don't think this will work!  If
the pedal returns to the top of its travel with the valve open, air can
enter the system through the open valve.  (This may vary, I think,
depending on your bleeding apparatus.)
