I'm going to play the 'magnet on a > string' game. Any other ideas? Those parts probably didn't get far. With the help of a friend, get the engine up on some blocks without tilting it (so the parts don't roll anywhere) and then remove the oil filler tube (2 nuts.) You will probably find most of the parts still in the bottom of that tube. Any others should be just inside the magnesium case, where a magnet will be much more effective. If you do this carefully, you can reuse the gasket that seals the tube to the case.
