Family Reunion-Boise

Hey all,
Just returned from the 'Bus Pilots' sponsored, VW Family Reunion. It
was a nice, informal, "free" day. About 115 cars in the show and
several in the parking area. One of the best parts of the show is the
location...trees, ponds, ducks, dogs, trees, restrooms, free and trees.
There were 5 Squares at the show, 4 were shades of blue and one beige.
There was a 68 that was as near to perfect as a car can get. Paint with
a deep, deep shine. Perfect stock interior. Eat off of it clean
interior and just a small bit of personal touch (bullet lenses in front,
flat euro lenses in rear, color matched Empi's). There were 40+ buses,
50+ bugs (including a right hand drive vert), 3 electric cars, 8 or 9
bajas, a couple of porsche kits and a Humbug kit that was flawless.
There was even a 53 ragtop splitty with a judson/okrasa motor that was
driven to the show. The best part of this show is that all judging is
by spectators and is subject to general preference. This is a nice
change from the checklist judging I have seen in other places...Curb
appeal reigns! Evn the best of show award goes by way of the people.
Though 5 was a small amount of 3's it promises to improve next year...3
Notch owners had cars still being restored and 1 other had to choose
between his Notch and his show class Sundial camper. I think he made
the wrong choice, but it was a day sponsored by the 'Bus Pilots'.
