The point I would make is that fiberglass CAN be used to make good structural pieces, but that the pieces need to be designed carefully with the characteristics of fiberglass in mind, particularly at joints. Since we are talking here about replacing parts that were originally designed in steel, it is important to understand that these parts were designed with the characteristics of steel in mind. If I just copy those in fiberglass it will never be acceptable. Thus there will never be a good way to attach the seat rails to a fiberglass pan, because these were designed to be attached at a few discrete points, bad design for fiberglass.
