I'm sure you all remember me...Katie with the smoooshed squareback and the broken nose...anyway, I just wanted to let the list know that I bought a "replacement" for my currently out of commission square. Yesterday morning I went and picked up my new toy, a 72 notchback. It's soooo cool. :) There are some odd things about it, like the fact that the tach doesn't work when the headlights are on, and the left turn signals work all the time while the rights only work occasionally...but overall it's a spiffy car. And HOT DAMN, I love fuel injection!! :) This car has incredible pick up off the line and did wonderfully on the trip home from San Diego to LA. We did between 65 and 70 the whole way with no problems and used a tiny amount of gas compared to the carbureted motor in the square. The only problem is a hesitation when starting the car...it turns over quite a few times before it finally starts. Anyone with any insight on this feel free to throw in your 2 cents...It looks like the car used to be an automatic. There used to be an automatic emblem on the decklid and the shift plate has been welded in up front. That's fine with me, I like standard trannys. We parted out a late model fastback too, but were disappointed in the condition of it. LOTS of front clip rust, so there went my hopes of using that clip on the squareback. It was a lovely 70's custom job, complete with frenched in antenna, filled front turn signals, nerf bars, and a groovy glass sunroof. We took what we could, which was less than we hoped, but we'll clean it up and take what we want and let the rest go to others who need it. We got the quarter window and rear window glass, if anyone needs that for their fastback. We'll list the other stuff we have as soon as we go thru it better. Ok, I'll stop rambling, this is already too long :) I'm just terribly excited about my new car and needed to share with other type 3 fans. Katie
