pass. side door mirror

Hi,

I now have a mirror for the passenger side of my '66 squareback.
Could somebody who knows please answer this?

On the door, there is a round plug.  How do I remove this?
At first I thought it was an allen wrench socket, but it's 
really just a round dimple.  Do I have to get it from inside?

I assume there is the nut to mount the mirror, behind this.
