The 40's would be to big for stock ratios, but with the extra opening length they do fine. My engine climbs hills well also. This set up does not require high rpms to make torque( I got the spelling correct this time) or its hp. As an aside, I can't praise pertronix ignitions enough. I had an engine fire in my bus, bad brass conection to the carb. I only had 2 weeks with the set-up and thought I was out 50 bucks. Anyway, it burnt every wire on the left side of the engine to a crisp. The wires, there are 2, to the pertronix set up were gone; I decided to replace them and give the set up one last chance (I hate to lose money). The guarentee said the unit could withstand temps unto 400*F. Anyway, I replaced everything that burnt and the engine fired right up. That was 6,000 miles ago and I still haven't had to adjust my engine timing at all.
