difference in heads

ok is there any major difference in a single port head to a duel port head
????  I am not in it for performance but I really want a reliable and easy
to start car on these cold mornings( yes it gets cold in Nevada around
freezing in winter mornings).
Also any one have any experience with a type 1 case in there type 3 car. I
am wondering 'cause that is what is in my car now. and how do you block off
the type 1 dipstick???? I mean it is set up for a regular dipstick on a
type 3 but they had something over the hole that disintegrated when I
touched it
