Okay, I'm a little confused here. What does the pedal cluster have to do
with the shifting? My first guess would be that the shifter needs
adjustment (an easy task). Next guess would be checking the clutch cable
to make sure it's properly adjusted; sounds like it *may* need a little
tightening.
Also, drain the tranny oil and replace it with synthetic as this may help
somewhat. Don't forget to clean the magnetic tranny drain plug. If it's
full of metal shavings then I recommend you get a new tranny. I was
looking into getting a stock T3 tranny and they run less than $400 for a
good, warrentied (is this a word?) unit.
For parts let your fingers to the walking -- look at the ads in the VW mags
and call around. Just make sure they know you're talking about a TYPE 3, a
Fastback, and not a Beetle. I am amazed at some of the idiots I have to
talk with who don't know the difference...and they are working for an
air-cooled parts place!

does anyone know where I can get a pedal cluster?? The problem is that mine car
is having problems going into gear. What happens is that I will stop push the c
lutch in (which was replaced recently) and try to get it into 1st gear and it wi
ll not go in, plus it is having problems getting into all the gears. I know the
trans needs to be replace but my mechanic says that this will help and that the
cluster is type 3 only. I need this and motor mounts. If anybody has any idea
please let me know.
